The town of Kromeriz has a big market square with colourful Baroque buildings and a few interesting churches. The town was the seat of bishops from the Middle Ages up to the 19th century.
The highlight of Kromeriz is the archbishop's chateau with the wine cellars and gardens. Lots of visitors come to the castle to see its collection of paintings, coins and manuscripts. Works of such artists as Titian, Breughel, van Dyck or Cranach are on display there. Behind the palace spreads the park which is said to be the masterpiece of park architecture with artificial ponds and pavilions. What theI liked best in Kromeriz was the flower garden. It has neatly cut hedges and colourful beautifully arranged flowerbeds which make it a wonderful example of Baroque garden art. You can get the best view of it from the top of the long colonnade in the north side of the park.
